Education is vital for our people, our business and our country.
The knowledge and skills of employees available in the labour supply are a key determinant for both business and economic growth. A skilled workforce is good for innovation and for bringing excitement into the workplace when they are encouraged to contribute to the business’s growth and development.
The lack of these skilled persons has always been an issue for trustee companies here in the Cook Islands. Our industry needs lawyers, accountants and business administrators. This makes it important for local trustee companies to support young Cook Islanders in their studies overseas and encouraging them to return by creating employment opportunities in the trust industry.
Different levels of support can be provided. It’s important to our team that we support the development of the Cook Islands Trust industry.
Trustees & Fiduciaries Cook Islands (T&F) provided 2 scholarship opportunities in 2022 to support Cook Islands students. The Accommodation Support package covers the full cost of hostel accommodation in the first year of study. We also provide full tuition costs for a junior trust officer that is working and studying in-country
Teagan Taripo worked as an intern at T&F during her last year of high school in 2021. She was recently accepted into The University of Auckland to study commerce in 2022. What a great achievement Teagan! It was our pleasure to award her the 2022 accommodation scholarship to to assist with her studies.
We are also excited to continue to support Stephany Teataiariki, junior trust officer here at T&F. Stephany is on her way to completing a Bachelors in Management at Massey University via their extra-mural programme. The scholarship covers full tuition and resource costs.
We wish both our recipients all the best in 2022 and look forward to continuing to develop the industry through supporting the next generation of Cook Islands professionals.
